Hello.

Welcome to our little corner of the internet where we share our musings and chronicles of our family adventures.

Mount Vesuvius

Mount Vesuvius

We first went on a tour of Pompeii. Then we had a quick lunch break. (FYI It was burning in Pompeii.) After that, we had a funny driver drive us to Mount Vesuvius. I thought visiting Mt. Vesuvius was scary because there were no rails, tons of lava in the crater and I would accidentally fall inside the crater to my death.  But here I am, all experienced, alive and well!

When we met our Mt. Vesuvius guide, he looked crazy because all his hair was curly and standing up on his head. We started hiking up the train when our guide suddenly started pounding the ground like crazy and we were weirdly looking confused at him. When he stopped pounding the ground, he had a rock in his hand.  He broke it into 5 pieces and gave a piece to each of us.  Inside the rock were sparkly grey specks.  He did it two more times and inside one of them were red sparkly specks and the other one were gold sparkly specks.  It was super cool!

We all could tell that he was so passionate about his job as a geologist.  His name is Raffaello.  If you should go to Italy, you should get Raffaello as your Mt. Vesuvius guide.  It will be worth the experience.
